He saw service in the Revolution as a soldier and sailor, serving under the name of "Mail Camp". D.A.R. records say his wife was Lucretia Goldsmith. The BEACH FAMILY MAGAZINE, p. 92, gives a daughter Betsey rather than Sophia, but corrects this at pp. 164, 165.
