Hector relates a strange experience at sea, sailing in N. S. Trades, on way to Cuba from Swansea, Wales, lying down reading he saw his brother John come into his cabin and heard him say "Hector, My God, Get up" and then vanished. On arriving in New York some time afterwards, he found the "Assyrian" on which John was second mate and Murdock Master, was reported lost in a gale of Cape Hatteras on the same day.
